and the winner is...

So for a while now I've been using Dior Diorshow mascara, and loving it. But every time I run out I have an internal struggle about buying a new one, $24 is a lot for mascara, and worst of all here in Colorado it dries out months earlier than in beach climates. So every time I have to replace mine I first go on a hunt for a drugstore brand that will work just as well. And every time I end up getting frustrated, and have only slightly narrowed the list of what doesn't work. Until now, presenting the winner, the drugstore mascara that works just as well as Diorshow, on sale for $3.99, L'Oreal Voluminous Volume Building Mascara.
I really can't find a difference between the two, and unlike other brands (like Max Factor 2000 Calorie Mascara) L'Oreal doesn't leave my lashes feeling dry and brittle after I put it on. The runner up for excellent mascaras would probably be Maybelline Full 'N Soft Mascara.

I also had the same struggle every time I ran out of bareMinerals foundation, but since I have to use it on my whole face I was reluctant to try something else. I finally broke down though after reading some good reviews online about Ulta Mineral Powder Foundation, which costs $11 less than bareMinerals, is often on sale, AND has coupons. The result? I think the Ulta one works better AND lasts longer without getting shiny and awkward. I also found some Ulta mineral eye shadows on clearance...WAY better bareMineral shadows, they don't crease and they last all day.

ok, your blog came at the perfect time - i'm down to the last of my free clinique mascara samples and I've always liked L'Oreal (mainly because their bottles typically are much cooler than other brands). And I have been thinking about crossing over to the world of mineral powder. so, thank you!
